Taryn Brumfitt
Founder at Body Image Movement · Co-founder at The Embrace Collective
Taryn Brumfitt is founder of the Body Image Movement, a global body-positivity campaign she started in 2012 after a before-and-after photo of her own body — reversed, showing her heavier and happier self as the "after" — went viral. She wrote and directed the documentary Embrace, seen in more than 190 countries, followed by Embrace Kids in 2022. In 2023 she was named Australian of the Year for shifting how people, especially children, think about their bodies, with her message reaching more than 200 million people worldwide. On ThincHer, she spoke about doubt, self-compassion and building a global movement.
