In 2023, Dr. Semenec co-founded Newera Bio, where she serves as CEO. The company focuses on developing sustainable, bio-based dyes for the textile industry, aiming to replace environmentally harmful fossil fuel-derived dyes. Newera Bio's innovative approach utilizes synthetic biology and green chemistry to produce biodegradable dyes with robust natural binding properties, reducing the need for water and chemical inputs in the dyeing process.
