Emma Grife

Chief of Staff

Emma Grife is the Chief of Staff - Founders at Startmate, an accelerator program that supports startup founders in Australia and New Zealand. In this role, she leads programs designed to help founders understand their customers and elevate their companies.

Before joining Startmate, Emma was an investor at Insight Partners, a venture capital firm based in New York City.,Cheryl Mack is the CEO of Aussie Angels, a platform dedicated to democratizing angel investing in Australia and New Zealand. With over 20 startup investments, she leads an angel syndicate of more than 120 investors and co-runs the 361 Angel Club, which includes over 400 investors. Cheryl is a strategic advisor to several startups and a mentor for programs like Startmate and Founder Institute. Her career includes leadership roles at Stone & Chalk and the Australian Computer Society, and she was the CEO of StartCon for four years, where she created the APAC-wide Pitch for $1M competition. Cheryl is also known for her appearances on Startup Daily as the Pitch Doctor. She is passionate about community building, marketing, and helping both startups and angel investors succeed.

Michael Batko

CEO

Michael Batko is the CEO of Startmate, a leading accelerator in Australia and New Zealand, where he has significantly expanded the company's operations and revenue. With a background in business consulting and corporate roles at companies like American Express, PwC, and KPMG, Michael transitioned into the startup ecosystem, helping grow startups like Mad Paws and Expert360. He is also the founder of Puddle Pod, a productivity and AI course. Michael's diverse experience spans operations, business analytics, and financial modeling, and he is passionate about supporting startups and fostering innovation. He holds a CEMS MIM in International Management and a BSc in Economics and Management. Michael is based in Sydney, Australia, and is fluent in multiple languages, including English, German, and Polish.
