Mike McKiernan
Founder & CEO at Deckee
Mike McKiernan founded Deckee, a Newcastle-based data and safety platform for Australia's waterways, after a decade working as a dockmaster at his local marina in Port Stephens. Deckee began as a directory site where boaters shared reviews and recommendations before evolving into a map-based safety app in 2018, and has since guided the boating community across more than 247 million nautical miles. McKiernan has raised capital through a Series A round and an equity crowdfunding campaign to expand the platform's safety technology, and remains Founder and CEO. On Welcome to Day One, he discussed turning a boating enthusiast's side project into a national platform.
