Paul Bassat

Co-founder

Paul Bassat is a prominent entrepreneur and investor based in the Greater Melbourne Area, Australia. He is the Founder and Non-Executive Chairman of AMPLIFY, a role he has held since October 2023. Paul is also a Co-founder of Square Peg, a venture capital firm he helped establish in April 2012. His extensive experience includes serving as a Commissioner for the Australian Football League since February 2012 and holding board positions at various companies such as Airwallex, Rokt, Constantinople, Athena Home Loans, Deputy, retrain.ai, HealthMatch, UpGuard, and Zeller. Previously, he was a Non-Executive Director at Wesfarmers and a Co-founder and Joint CEO of SEEK. Paul holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) and a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) from the University of Melbourne.

James Tynan

Partner

James Tynan is a Partner at Square Peg, where he invests in exceptional founders solving significant problems across Australia, Israel, and South-East Asia. Before joining Square Peg, James was the CEO of Startmate, Australia's most powerful startup network, where he created the Startmate Fellowship to enhance people's careers through the network. Prior to that, he was based in the US, where he played a pivotal role in scaling Khan Academy from a YouTube success to the largest ed-tech organization globally. As VP of Strategy and Operations at Khan Academy, he built the Business Development and Adoption (Marketing) functions and managed the Educator/Classroom business. James holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and a Bachelor of Arts in Media Arts & Production from the University of Technology Sydney, where he was awarded the University Medal.
