About Serina Bird
Serina Bird is a Canberra author and podcaster who runs The Joyful Frugalista, a personal finance brand built around her books and the podcast of the same name, which she hosts. Her books are The Joyful Frugalista (2019), a guide to saving money and living simply; The Joyful Startup Guide (2022), written for women starting a business; and How to Pay Your Mortgage Off in 10 Years (2023).
She worked in the public service for about 20 years before leaving in 2019 to run her own business. She also founded The Joyful Business Club, a community for women in business.
On The History of the Australian Startup Ecosystem interview series in 2022, she described how time in Taiwan sparked her interest in startups and argued that Australia needs more startups led by women and non-binary founders.
