Dr Andrew Mears is chief executive, co-founder and executive director of Tesseract ESS, an Adelaide-based venture launched in October 2024 that supplies commercial and industrial customers with solar and battery storage under long-term power purchase agreements at no upfront cost. He previously founded and led SwitchDin, a Newcastle-based distributed energy management software company, from 2014; SwitchDin's current leadership page no longer lists him among its executives. An engineer with two decades in renewable energy commercialisation across Asia-Pacific, Africa and Australia, he appeared on the original Welcome to Day One series to discuss distributed energy resources.
