Startup Support

UNSW Founders is an entrepreneurial program based at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Australia. It aims to empower entrepreneurs at every stage, from initial curiosity to achieving global impact. The program supports over 12,000 people annually, including students, staff, and alumni, and helps discover more than 500 new ideas each year. UNSW Founders offers a range of programs and services, including pre-accelerators, accelerators, and coaching, to help individuals build entrepreneurship skills, develop prototypes, pitch ideas, and scale startups. Since 2018, their accelerator programs have supported over 120 startups, which have collectively raised over $175 million in capital. The program also provides resources such as Makerspace, Coach & Connect, and Scaleup Support to foster a thriving entrepreneurial community on campus and online.

David Burt

Director of Entrepreneurship

David Burt is a prominent figure in the entrepreneurial landscape, currently serving as the Director of Entrepreneurship at UNSW. With a passion for fostering innovation, David leads the UNSW Founders team, providing free, philanthropically funded support to students, academics, staff, and alumni of the University of New South Wales. His efforts are aimed at transforming good ideas into successful startups. David is also a Non-Executive Director at Phyllome, where he contributes to creating sustainable food systems through robotics and genetics. His commitment to environmental sustainability is further demonstrated by his role as a Non-Executive Director at Planet Ark Environmental Foundation. With a background in business development and strategy analysis from his time at CSIRO and KPMG, David Burt is dedicated to empowering entrepreneurs and advancing Australia's sovereign capabilities. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Master of Management from the University of Sydney and is actively involved in various initiatives that align technology with societal progress.
