Les Delaforce is a distinguished First Nations leader and innovator, currently serving in Research and Development for ESG at Rio Tinto. With a robust background in advancing ESG-related technologies and integrating AI into mining practices, Les is committed to enhancing sustainability and efficiency. Previously, as Head of First Nations Entrepreneurship and Impact Projects at Minderoo Foundation, Les facilitated investment, research, and education to bolster the Indigenous business sector and climate-related technologies.Les has founded two startups, achieving a successful exit in 2019, and has worked with clients ranging from ASX-listed companies to government entities. His efforts have significantly contributed to Indigenous economic development, impact investing, and ESG initiatives. Recognized as a leader, Les has participated in international programs, including the U.S. State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program, and has presented at the United Nations Summit in Bangkok.Les holds an MBA from Curtin University and has been honored with awards such as the 40Under40 and AIM30. His work continues to drive innovation and social impact, particularly in Indigenous entrepreneurship and climate action.
